A little about the history of Cambridge
The city of Cambridge OH was founded in 1803 and it was named after Cambridge, MD. It started out with some geographic and commercial advantages with its location along a road known as Zanes Trace and a ferry that was established back in 1798, not long after the founding of America. Cambridge quickly developed into a trade center and persuaded several industries to locate there in the 1800s, bringing more employment to the area.
History still lives on in the streets of Cambridge
Cambridge OH today has a historic district that attracts visitors who want to see buildings originally built in the mid-to-late 1800s. You can take a walk down Wheeling Avenue, which was once the historic National Road, and explore a variety of home decor and antique shops. The area has a restored marketplace that includes historical museums, an art market, a theater, coffee and candy shops and delightful, locally-owned restaurants.
Cambridge is the home of an internationally renowned glass company
